Don’t believe everything you hear, or read. According to the approved June 9, 2011 planning commission meeting minutes, the borough has not yet received a valid rezoning petition. Sources in the borough report that the map of the area showing the boundaries to be zoned was either not presented with the rezoning petition or the zoning map boundaries were redrawn after some property owners signed the petition. Since the rezoning petition drive started January 2011, at least four of petition signers have sold their properties. The Eagle Vista Subdivision has 13 pages of covenants, conditions and restrictions. Are the property owners and land partners abiding by the CCR they signed? These CCR are very restrictive. The rezoning effort will only make this area an uninviting, anti-business tent city.

Have some of the landowners benefited from the current zoning and are now trying to stop others from doing the same? Have they taken full advantage of their property and the current zoning laws and are now asking other property owners not to share that same freedom? Is the planning commission being used to settle a neighborhood dispute and deprive other property owners of their rights? Talk to the neighbors to see if they are opposed to the proposed land use. Neighbors can reject the application, as well as create long-term discomfort. Get on a friendly basis with neighbors and see things from their point of view, not just those with a similar view.
