    A Main Street business reported fresh pry marks on a door, possible evidence of someone trying to break in.

    Troopers were advised of a call that a vehicle was parked in the road at 7.5 Mile Lutak Road.  

    The water and sewer department was notified that a Fourth Avenue caller still didn’t have water.

    A caller reported a snow pole broken and leaning up against a fire hydrant. An officer advised it was just a rake.

    A caller reported two bears at the top of Fourth Avenue at 11:25 p.m. and requested police assistance to get home.

Saturday, Aug. 21

    A caller on Union Street reported garbage on the road that is a hazard.

    A caller reported harassing phone calls.

    A Haines Highway gas station employee reported a vehicle left without paying for gas.

    Troopers were advised of a call that a halibut skate west of Kochu Island was missing.

    A caller reported smoke coming from a Deishu Drive house. An officer who responded found a person had fallen asleep while cooking.

    A caller reported water overflowing on Third Avenue and View Street. Public works was notified.

    A caller from a downtown bar reported a possible drunk driver.

Friday, Aug. 20

    A caller reported a bear broke into a Main Street business.

    A caller reported a person was acting odd at a Main Street grocery store.

    A caller reported an elderly parent with bad eyesight and dementia was driving and requested information about how to get their license revoked.

    A caller reported a vehicle nearly hit him while he was walking on Old Haines Highway near the school.

    A caller reported a bear got into the garbage at the senior center.

    A west side gas station worker reported a vehicle left without paying for gas.

    A harbor worker requested police assistance while moving a boat.

Wednesday, Aug. 18

    A Deishu Drive caller reported a cat beating up their cat.

Tuesday, Aug. 17

    Public Works was advised of an alarm at the sewer plant.

    A caller reported a satchel stolen near Carr’s Cove.

    There were 19 doctor calls and four calls about dogs.
