A caller reported a bear walking in front of their senior village residence at 4:30 a.m.

A caller reported hearing shots fired on Mud Bay Road.

A caller reported domestic violence between two people at 0 Mile Old Haines Highway. A responding officer arrested a person for misdemeanor assault.

Friday, Sept. 10

Firemen responded to a call that a popcorn machine was on fire inside a Main Street bar.

Troopers were advised of calls about a motorist speeding at 25 Mile Haines Highway.

Thursday, Sept. 9

A caller reported they sold a gun to someone three years ago and were not paid for it. They were referred to local court.

A caller reported a vehicle backed into another vehicle at the ferry terminal.

A caller reported being scammed out of a large amount of money. Police determined there was nothing they could do.

A bicyclist near 0 Mile Old Haines Highway said they were nearly hit by a motorist who may have been intoxicated. Police contacted the driver, who was not intoxicated.

Wednesday, Sept. 8

A caller reported a bear broke into a locked, wooden shed on Tower Road. A responding officer chased off the bear, then chased it off again when it returned a half hour later.

A caller reported a speeding tour bus in the school zone.

A caller reported a vehicle driving slowly and crossing the center line between 18 Mile and 10 Mile Haines Highway. Police determined they were sightseeing.

An officer responded to a call that a vehicle parked at Port Chilkoot Dock was making it hard for buses to turn around.

Troopers were advised a Lutak resident had received multiple harassing phone calls.

A pedestrian reported being called names by occupants of a vehicle near the school.

A caller reported a bear got into their trash on Small Tracts Road.

Police determined a call about a child who didn’t get off the school bus when they were expected was a case of miscommunication between parents.

Troopers were advised that a moose was floating down the river at 19 Mile Haines Highway.

A motorist who made it into town reported rolling their vehicle at 21 Mile Haines Highway. Troopers were advised.

Tuesday, Sept. 7

A caller requested an officer to assist with a client refusing to leave a Fort Seward business. The person left before police arrived.

A caller reported rude joggers who refused a request that they keep a distance from the caller’s dog.

There were 10 medical calls and four calls about dogs.
