The Haines cruise ship season ended early this week when Holland America Line vessel Statendam canceled its Wednesday docking.

The Statendam would have been the last ship of the season, but high winds and rough seas in the Gulf of Alaska forced a change in itinerary.

A Holland America spokeswoman said the ship was to depart Seward on Sept. 18, but was delayed until Sept. 20 due to weather concerns. Statendam was to proceed to Juneau and continue with the remainder of its published itinerary.
