My family and I would like to thank the efforts of the dedicated members of our fire department, forest service, and the helicopter crew who worked to control the 7-Mile Saddle fire. As we watched the helicopter make many trips, we reflected on some of the issues facing our community. These dedicated people are risking their lives for the betterment of the community. We also have borough assembly members who put the community’s needs first. We don’t always agree with them, but they serve the community without personal agendas for the betterment of the whole. Rather than using our energy to organize an official recall committee, which promotes discord and disharmony, we should instead be grateful for their service. How can we move forward, harmoniously grow as a community and creatively solve problems that face us if our energy is divided and we focus on being petty, pointing fingers and promoting discord? What lessons does this teach our youth, the future of our community? Let’s regain the bigger perspective as conscious adults. Let’s thank the individuals who dedicate their time in community service regardless of politics or personal agendas. Let’s celebrate the efforts of people like Joe Poor for planting trees to beautify our town. Be grateful to the members of the borough assembly and to all of the individuals who serve the community.
Let’s stop fanning the flames of personal agendas and put out the fires and focus on what really counts.
