Brian Lemcke returned to work for the Haines Borough this week, as the new interim director of public facilities.

Lemcke, a former city councilor who owns the Fogcutter Bar, oversaw the Haines School renovation and additional projects as a contractor for the borough from 2006 to 2008, before the creation of the facilities director position. He then was self-employed in Sequim, Wash.

Previous facilities director Brad Maynard left the job at the end of June. Lemcke will step in until the position is filled, said borough manager Mark Earnest.

The first review of applications for the permanent facilities director is set to begin Friday.
