Registration for the
19th annual Kluane Chilkat International Bike Relay ends Friday.
As of last week, about 1,100 riders were signed up for the 245-kilometer relay from Haines Junction, Y.T., to Haines set for Saturday, June 18,
Registration is capped at 1,200 participants. The maximum number of eight-person teams has been increased to 95, from 85.
Haines Highway will be closed to all vehicles between 8-10 a.m. PDT. Northbound traffic will be stopped at the Kathleen River at 8 a.m. and southbound traffic will be stopped in Haines Junction at 8:15 a.m. The highway will reopen for southbound traffic at 9:30 a.m., and for northbound traffic at 10 a.m.
