It appears we may now have apple trees donated by Costco available to Haines residents.

The original plan was for strategically planting these trees along the main streets of Haines as a beautification project for our community and visitors.

However after multiple requests to our borough manager for permission to plant on borough property last summer, fall and this spring it has become apparent that the Haines Borough will not be granting permission for planting this growing season and therefore this community beautification project is dead!

However, if Haines property owners would like apple trees, have a sunny location, well drained soil and are willing to water and care of these trees , we may have some available.

Most of the trees appear to have survived this cold winter and are beginning to form buds.
