A Discovery Channel executive producer has confirmed that “Gold Rush: Alaska” filming will return to the Haines Borough.
The reality TV show’s Feb. 25 “Full Disclosure” epilogue indicated Todd Hoffman’s mining crew would head to Dawson City, Y.T., for the second season, while a man called “Dakota Fred” would remain in the Porcupine mining district as a representative for the claim’s owner.
“We are going to film in Alaska and the Yukon,” Christo Doyle, executive producer, said in an e-mail to the Chilkat Valley News. “There will be at least two claims that we are going to follow.”
“Gold Rush: Alaska” had a 10-episode run Friday nights on Discovery. Doyle said the second season tentatively has been scheduled to launch next fall, with filming to begin this spring.
“We love Dakota Fred and he is part of season two plans,” Doyle said.
