“We are oft to blame in this, ‘tis too much proved…that with devotion’s visage and pious action, we do sugar o’er the devil himself.”
Said by Polonius to Ophelia, for holding her prayer book improperly…a phrase emblematic of what’s gone wrong in America.
Our country was founded in freedom, intended by our forefathers to be a safe place for all who dared disagree with King George the Third. And yet, we have reverted to a terrible time, as, with “pious action,” the self-righteous condemn all who disagree with them as “traitors.”
It’s said that a traitor is a revolutionary who fails. Many of our fellow Americans, somehow, have forgotten that the crises we face were caused by the very people they support. They sustain a hateful process against innocent people based simply on their faith, or their sexual orientation. Perhaps they should remember (by their own faith) that vengeance is the Lord’s, and that, by their own prophet’s words, they should love their enemies, and pray for their persecutors.
The Murrah Building was destroyed by Christians. I don’t hear anyone protesting the creation of a Christian church in Oklahoma City. Forbearance, forgiveness, diversity and unity are the qualities that will see us through our troubles. Medical care, quality education for all, and vigilance of the wealthy who dictate the lives of the poor and the middle class will restore us to greatness.
Please consider these words. Be good, or be careful.
