Shareholders elected Rosemary Hotch, Vincent Rinehart, John Katzeek and David Strong to the Klukwan, Inc. board of directors at a July 31 annual corporation meeting.

Incumbent Chad Strong did not seek re-election. About 15,000 of 25,300 shares were represented in the election. Strong will serve a one-year term. Each of the other three elected will serve three years.

Also at the meeting, the outgoing board announced a dividend of $20 per share to be paid Aug. 18.

The corporation’s general income trust has $18.6 million, including a $2 million loan to the Chilkat Indian Village, shareholders were told. The loan went through before the new board was seated.

The Klukwan-based tribe has taken control of the former Chilkat Cruises dock and Chilkat Express tour boat, but residents won’t see any changes until next year, said corporation office manager Ralph Strong.

The tribe is seeking commitments for village tours from Princess Cruises and hopes to use the dock and tour boat to bring clients to town from Skagway.

Other corporation board members are chair Les Katzeek, Ralph Strong, Edward Hotch, Janice Hotch and Dave Berry.
