A hard-to-fight dock fire Monday at the relatively new, $80 million cruise ship terminal in Whittier left major damage in its wake.
Officials with the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office on Wednesday described the damage to the dock as “a total loss,” said Austin McDaniel, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety, which includes the fire marshal’s office.
