The brown bear cub captured on Mud Bay Road last month is being housed at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center outside of Anchorage while a new home is being readied in Minnesota.
“He is looking healthy and doing well,” said state biologist Ryan Scott who darted and hauled off the 60-pound cub July 13.
After a period of quarantine and acclimatization to the Portage facility, “he seems to be adjusted to the surroundings,” Scott said.
