The idea of allowing American Cruise Line to provide financial support to upgrade Letnikof Dock is jumping into bed with the devil.  Is any amount of money worth losing local control over our dock?

How many local subsistence, sport and recreational mariners want to find a congested harbor crawling with tourists and cruise ships?  Been to downtown Juneau or Skagway lately?

Letnikof harbor is a local dock supported by our borough taxes and should remain so.  The idea of sharing the sometimes crowded public facility with a constant stream of cruise ship traffic is a recipe for disenfranchisement and local discontent.  Yet another attempt at gentrification of a once local facility sold out to corporate America.  No thanks.

I’d rather drag my skiff through rocks, mussels and barnacles than sell out to a corporation that will not prioritize you or me.
