Two felled cottonwoods block access to a public boat ramp near 19 Mile Haines Highway last week. State trooper Ken VanSpronsen said it appears someone was trying to prevent Chilkat Guides, a frequent user, from accessing the ramp. VanSpronsen said the surrounding land is a Native allotment belonging to the Chilkat Indian Village. “We have no idea who did it,” VanSpronsen said.
