Voters in Alaska have until July 19 to register to vote in the upcoming August primary election. 

The August primary includes the U.S. Senate seat, currently held by Republican Dan Sullivan, the state’s House seat, currently held by Republican Representative Nick Begich and 50 seats in the state legislature. The Governor’s office is also up for grabs and 17 candidates are in the running to replace Mike Dunleavy who has termed out. 

The state’s August 18 primary is open, so all candidates will appear on the same ballot no matter their party affiliation. Voters will pick one candidate in each race and the top four vote-getters advance to the general election. 

There will also be a ballot measure on the August primary ballot. If approved, it would limit some political contributions. 

You can register online at voterregistration.alaska.gov, in person at a Division of Elections office or by mailing, faxing or emailing a voter registration. Voters can check their registration status online at myvoterportal.alaska.gov.
