An ad was recently published in the Anchorage Daily News, The Vancouver Sun, and The Seattle Times addressing Vizsla Copper Corporation and proponents of the Palmer Mine project, with the names of hundreds of Haines and Klukwan residents who signed a letter expressing concerns and opposition to the project.

I am honored to have signed along with so many friends, family, and neighbors. Today, I write with continued support for the Village of Klukwan and all species in the Chilkat Valley.

I’ve lived a subsistence lifestyle in the upper valley of Haines since 1980. The Chilkat Valley raised me to value a wild and vital environment.

My family made a living in forestry, fishing, logging, surveying, road building and mining. I grew up understanding the importance of a good job. I support responsible, locally backed resource development that creates good jobs and doesn’t risk our way of life for future generations. The Palmer Project is the wrong mine in the wrong place.

I chose the Chilkat Valley to raise a family because there is truly no other place on earth like this. What we have is precious and unique and needs our protection. We are stewards of this land and the animals that live here for future generations and that’s why I stand with Klukwan in opposition to large-scale hard rock mining in the Chilkat Valley.

Gunalchéesh to the Chilkat Indian Village (Klukwan) and Chilkat Forever for leading the effort to protect what we love and value in the Chilkat Valley.
