Wind and rain made the 2025 marine debris removal program challenging!
However, Takshanuk Watershed Council, partners and volunteers still managed to remove more than 1,000 pounds of trash from local beaches. This wouldn’t be possible without support from the Chilkoot Indian Association.
Thanks to Liam Wirak-Cassidy for providing jetboat support and Jake Bell for providing his fishing boat to transport volunteers and trash. Haines Friends of Recycling took all the plastics for their upcycling project and Community Waste Solutions accepted the trash at the landfill. Thanks to the Haines Borough for providing dump truck support and students from Haines and Klukwan schools for helping clean the Chilkoot estuary and Chilkat State Park picnic area. Our biggest bow of gratitude is for our hardworking community volunteers who braved the challenging conditions to remove trash from our local beaches.

We are beyond grateful for your dedication and willingness to get out and make a positive difference!
