The Board of Trustees of the American Bald Eagle Foundation (ABEF) passed a Resolution at our January board meeting that strongly reaffirms our mission statement:

“The conservation of the bald eagle and its habitat through education and stewardship.”

As part of the ABEF’s commitment to this mission, the ABEF board and staff are deeply concerned about any large-scale developments that could pose significant risks to the bald eagle population, salmon runs, and the ecosystems they support.

In alignment with this responsibility, we firmly oppose the proposed hard rock mining operation in the upper Chilkat Valley and the planned clearcuts from the Haines State Forest to Chilkat Ridge, a region recognized as critical habitat for nesting and

roosting bald eagles. Our full Resolution is available on our website: www.baldeagles.org.
