A candidate for Haines’ police chief position will be available at the Haines Public Library on Monday evening.
Gregory Boris is one of the two remaining candidate for the position, the other is a man named Michael Greelee. The position has been open since former chief Josh Dryden announced his resignation and left in November. Michael Fullerton has been filling in as interim-chief since.
According to his Oct. 14 application to the borough, Boris is currently working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Fort Washakie, WY., is a longtime law enforcement officer who spent 28 years at the Baltimore Police Department and did a brief stint at the Alamogordo Police Department in New Mexico in 2022. He has been in his current position at the Wind River Reservation Police Department since then, according to the application.
The meet-and-greet is scheduled for Monday evening from 5-6:45 p.m.
