At least 798 Chilkat Valley residents cast ballots, according to counts released by the state’s Division of Elections. But that total does not include the hundreds of early and absentee in-person ballots cast in the borough.

Borough staff said 501 people voted early before election day on Nov. 5.

On Tuesday, the Division of Elections added more than 38,000 votes to the state’s electoral count, but there are still remaining uncounted ballots.

Additional absentee ballots were added to the candidates’ totals on Nov. 12, and will again be added on Nov. 15 and Nov. 20, according to the Division of Elections.

On Tuesday evening, Division of Elections director Carol Beecher told the Alaska Beacon that she does not have “a hard number” for the amount of uncounted votes.
