Where is the accountability?

Recent letters to the CVN promote Ms. Dawson as a “leader” who had to overcome the “messes” from the previous assembly. As someone who pays close attention in person to assembly meetings, I’m mystified by these inaccurate claims. She voted to increase the mil rate on property taxes and she clearly took the lead on getting rid of former borough manager Annette Kreitzer and derailing repair of the dock.

Most disturbing though was her response to the resignation of our beloved city clerk, Alekka Fullerton, where she was quoted in an April, 11, 2024 CVN article covering this sad event saying: the loss of Fullerton could be an opportunity saying she’d served at other organizations that had entire leadership structures collapse when younger people came in with new energy and ideas. That sounds kind of like an insurgency to me.  I wonder how many times she has taken down leaders in other communities?

Ms. Fullerton was quoted in this same article: “I have never worked for a less transparent assembly or planning commission, and I have never seen so much backdoor dealings that I have not seen in my eight years with the borough.”

I want to see mature people on the assembly who are proven leaders with a track record of empathy and caring for everyone, especially those struggling to survive. Seems to me the best way to hold elected officials on this current assembly accountable is to not re-elect them.
