We want to express a huge thank-you to the Haines town and upper valley communities for supporting our Art Camp through the Four Winds Resource Center. Fifty-five kids, ages 5-12, learned a variety of art mediums, including ceramics, pastels, drawing, watercolor, acrylic, wire-wrap jewelry making, collage, and lots of coloring. Our artists earned 14 ribbons at the SE AK State Fair!
Thank you to the Alaska Community Foundation, who enabled us to do this camp through generous grant funding. Thanks to our assistant, Lucia Chappell, for helping us keep kids happy and engaged. Thank you to Donna Catotti for sharing her wisdom and her studio space with us.
Thanks to Cassie Benassi for teaching the craft of wire wrap! A big thanks to Amelia Nash for teaching collage to the kiddos as well! Thank you Barbara Rolfe for her ceramic wisdom and personal kiln.
Thanks to Julie Korsmeyer and Bill Jurewitz for housing the kiln at their shop and troubleshooting with us to make sure it worked. We could not have offered the ceramic camps without you!
Thanks to Stacee Powlison for ensuring our campers were fed each week. Thanks to the FWRC for making the art camp happen, hosting the free camps, and making our artists feel like stars at the Upper Valley Art Show! Thanks to the ANB Hall for hosting two of our “in-town” camps. And the biggest thanks goes to our artists and their families for coming to camp with their big art-lovin’ energy!
