Steve Kroschel’s wildlife facility has been closed to the public since August 4 when his USDA permit to operate lapsed.

A female brown bear cub some Chilkat Valley residents called “Zulu” was euthanized by a state park ranger after a series of incidents at Chilkoot State Park. Shown here on August 3, 2024, the young cub is related to a popular Chilkoot bear dubbed Speedy who had 8 cubs during her 15 year lifespan.
