Dear Friends:

I would like to address an ever-present issue here of trash. We live amongst the bears and the sea mammals, trying to keep in harmony with both. The bears need us to be clean and secure with our refuse; the whales need us to keep their waters clean of things they might call food, accidentally. Both types of animals die with the consequences of our choices.

Where to throw things away is a tricky question here, and I feel we caring people can do a much better job of offering recycling alongside bear-proof refuse containers for the foody stuff.

Just as a start, the Letnikof Dock could use a refuse-and-recycle station, possibly resident-managed. Anyone want to join in? Call me at 766-3619 if you would like to help.

Thanks for listening.
