Renae Miner and Ryan Olsen were married in an intimate ceremony in the Redwoods State Park near Orick, California. The reception was held at the Gold River Lodge in nearby Klamath, California. The wedding party included groomsmen, Chris Olsen, James Hart, Will Hickman, Richard Bachman, Nick Magnuson, and Justin Lovich. The bridesmaids included Kelsey Burgess, Carlee Heinmiller, Riley Erekson, Alisha Young, and Kaitlyn Hickman. Others in attendance were Randy and RaeAnn Miner, Tina and Dean Olsen and Joliena Wilson. Renae and Ryan both went to Haines School but did not start dating until their senior year of college. “We have been dating for 7 years and have known each other for 14 years,” said Renae.

Tami Hudalla of Anoka, Minnesota and Niall Hackett of Dublin, Ireland were married in a beautiful and sunny ceremony on hole 6 at the Valley of the Eagles golf course. The couple met in Arizona and live there during the winter months. Niall is the Golf Professional at the course and the couple decided to get married in Haines after a short engagement, which was officiated by Ann Quinlan. The wedding week started off with many adventures including a rafting trip, a catered meal by chef Travis Kukull at Sue Waterhouse’s Cliffhanger Bed and Breakfast, and a celebration dinner at the Pilot Light restaurant. The wedding party consisted of matron of honor Julie Brewer from Minnesota and best man Stan Jones. Several friends and family attended including Tami’s father Vern and wife Sharon Hudalla and sister Kim Dorris and husband Will from Arizona. Also, Norm and Jewelie Eberlie, Terri, England and Kathy Thompson from Seattle came to participate in the celebration. “Tami and I couldn’t have asked for a more gorgeous afternoon, we can’t thank Stan and Kathy Jones and everyone involved enough for their contribution of allowing us to get married on the course and helping us with the ceremony,” said Niall.

Keely and Jordan Baumgartner have returned from a 10-day camping trip along the Oregon coast with their two boys Spencer and Parker. They also attended the wedding of Keely’s cousin CJ Erekson in Hood River, Oregon. They caught up with Keely’s sisters Carlee Heinmiller and Riley Erekson, parents Judy Erekson and Lee Heinmiller, and cousin Ben Egolf. “Highlights of the road trip included getting to go on the University of Oregon football field, flying kites at Haystack Rock, and a day at Wild Waves,” said Keely.

After a long summer of community volunteering, the Haines Uglys treated themselves to a camping retreat up the Chilkat River earlier this month. “We found ourselves helping the community so much, it was a great bonding time for our organization,” said member Dave Long. Dave said at one time there were nine jetboats all heading down river in unison as they headed back from their retreat.

The Tykes and Trikes kick-off party started off with lots of happy toddlers with a fun-filled day at Tlingit Park. Organizer, Lori Carter hopes that the Tykes and Trikes or TNT can be held at Tlingit Park somedays while it is still nice. Otherwise, the program runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Haines School elementary gym. The program is set up for kids ages 0-5 and will run through the school year.

The local Port Chilkoot Distillery has been nominated for USA Today’s 2019 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award.
