After reading the Oct. 19 edition about the Porcupine Road, I thought maybe something got missed in this article. If anyone was out at Porcupine last year, they know that the road was flooded at least four times that I was aware of. Each time the waters of the Klehini River rose, it dumped hundreds of yards of dirt, debris and rocks directly into Herman Creek. If the borough and Constantine had not taken action, Herman Creek and this spawning area would be gone. I just hope that in the future Mr. Poinsette and Takshanuk Watershed Council will work with the Haines Borough and not try to find fault. This road is a much safer road now for all the users. We should give a big thank you to the borough for saving a salmon spawning area and for making one of our roadways a little safer.
