I have been a volunteer DJ at KHNS for 30 years. Going into the station on a regular basis, especially playing morning Soundwaves shows, has provided me a window into the operation and staff mood over a long span. I want to congratulate Kay Clements on a brilliant run as manager. She has never drawn attention to herself, instead letting the music and news speak for the quality of her leadership. What many in the listening audience may not realize is that throughout her tenure, support from the government has steadily dwindled. Kay has led the excellent staff at the radio station through a series of Houdini-like routines to compensate for lack of funding with extremely well thought-out and clever ways to adapt and compensate. The result has been no decline in the quality of programming. More impressive still is that throughout all these challenges she has maintained a high level of staff harmony. Her selflessness and good humor have set the best of examples for those working with her. It has been a pleasure to volunteer in a place that has functioned so well. The entire staff deserves credit, but none more than Kay. We appreciate the job she has done and will miss her.
