I’ve owned the Chilkat Valley News for a little more than six years, and it’s time for a change. To that end, I’ve been in discussions with a buyer. We’ve reached an unofficial agreement and the current plan is for her to take over in January. More details will come, but the new owner has years of Alaska reporting experience and is about to graduate with a master’s degree in media innovations and solutions, a program designed to help people take over existing newspapers. She’ll be a great fit for Haines and for the future of the CVN. As soon as she’s ready, she’ll introduce herself in these pages, and likely in person in the coming weeks.
I won’t be going too far. I’ve been hired as the general manager at KHNS where I’ll start next month. I’ll have more to say later, but for now, I’d like to give a hearty thanks to all the hard-working employees, scrupulous readers and loyal advertisers who have helped keep this paper going.
