What a rewarding day for me! I missed the Auxiliary’s Breakfast for the third year, but the parade was a success, only receiving the highway event permit 20 hours prior! We celebrated facets of Haines with the best root beer float in my life at the park, Michael Flegel honoring his dad in the money races. Harriet and Wayne shared their beautiful hand-carved canoes and Jan & Deanna blessed us with leading the Chilkat Dancers. Bingo was thriving through the caller’s New York style was classing with the ladies. The bloomer blast was a record 280 feet! Phil Wilde, again made a magical firework show on a small budget. In conclusion, I had a moment of shared respect with a conservationist and, shortly afterward, shared a good laugh with a miner. Looking back over the last three years, I am proud to have lived in and served this community.
