I’m writing to share utmost appreciation for our community in light of a medical scare that landed me in the Juneau hospital and also to encourage folks to take a moment to think about medevac insurance. A deep bow of gratitude to Rebecca Malone, nurses Keely Baumgartner and Alixanne Goodman, Caroline Hankins and anyone else I’m missing at the SEARHC clinic whose swift action and capable hands prevented a lot of additional negative consequences and quite possibly saved my life, according to the folks at Bartlett. And huge thanks to Sean Reed and Sean Silk with Haines EMS for their smiles and professionalism and to fire chief Brian Clay and the incredible volunteers who enable ambulance service for Haines. There’s no way to list everybody in town I wish to thank here but you know who you are: you’re my people. Jeanne Kitayama, Claire Stremple, and David Hertel deserve triple gold stars. I encountered the greatest fortune of my life when I moved to Haines 13 years ago. This community has been beyond good to me. Thank you so much and I promise to always try to bring that goodness back around. Please purchase medevac insurance, I promise you that the peace of mind knowing you’re not going to have to pay tens of thousands of dollars for an air ambulance is so very worth it. I’m no expert but you’re welcome to email me at [email protected] I love you, Haines. Thank you.
