I am thrilled to announce that we did it! We’ve got a women’s softball league going again in Haines! 35 women signed up to play after a 10 year hiatus. Our first game was Tuesday, May 30th.The season will run weekly, every Tuesday at 6:30pm through the first week of August.

Thank you to our team sponsors for purchasing hats and shirts for our two teams: SEARHC and The Bamboo Babes. Christy Tengs Fowler was super excited to hear that the Bamboo Babes are back on the ball field again. Thanks to my co-organizers and team captains: Kari Johnson, Nicole Holm and Summer Lynch. A huge shoutout to Karlie Spud for connecting with Chilkat Indian Village who is covering all umpire costs for the entire season! Thank you CIV for your generosity!

Thank you Jeffery Klanott, Daniel Klanott (umpire), and Tyrell Horton who have provided critical support. Finally, thanks to all the women who signed up even if you’ve never played before. It’s going to be a lot of fun. See you at the field!

With gratitude, Sarah Elliott
