I’m writing this letter concerning the article in last week’s paper about the delayed food stamps (SNAP) program in Haines.

The governor is adding 9 million to the budget to train more help processing applications. These delays should have not happened. We are talking about a food crisis. People are forced to borrow money to feed their families.

If you have any surplus food in your cupboards or extra cash, now is the time to help those who are less fortunate people that are in Haines. Whatever you can donate to the Salvation Army for the residents of Haines need help more than ever.
