An exciting affair, on more than one account, took place during the “Clue” themed murder mystery party at the Chilkat Center for the Arts on Saturday evening. The heirs of the late Mr. Boddy, in attendance for his wake, were secretly maneuvering for a chance to get their hands on the wealthy estate of the recently deceased. Foul play had been suspected in the untimely death of Mr. Boddy and fingers were pointed in all directions as each of the characters took turns confiding to each other their ambiguous intentions.
Was it Miss Scarlet (Tracey Harmon) in the conservatory with the candlestick after all? Perhaps Colonel Mustard (Ryan Laine) made mince with the meat cleaver in the kitchen? The truth is stranger than fiction. The perpetrator of the mysterious murder turned out to be none other than Monsieur Grey (Gabe Thomas), Mr. Boddy’s chauffeur who was eventually exposed as the only true male heir and therefore the rightful recipient of the estate. Grey, the love child of Boddy and his sensuous maid Yvette (Sue Waterhouse) was revealed to have murdered his father and later that evening Yvette, in an effort to hide the affair and prevent the rivaling family members from making off with his fortune.
After many heated conversations between estranged relatives and servants of the late Mr. Boddy throughout the evening several scandals were uncovered. Among them was an erotic affair that was revealed between Mrs. Peacock (Debra Schnabel), and the much younger pool boy, Gainer Riley. Pierre Pink ( Luck Dunbar), was discovered to be the product of yet another sultry affair (between) Colonel Mustard and Madame Rose (Judith McDermott). Miss Scarlet, ex-wife of Mr. Boddy, was amidst a lover’s tryst with Mr. White (Wendell Harren), the husband of Mr. Boddy’s daughter, formerly Miss Scarlet’s stepdaughter. It hardly ends there, but needless to say at some point during the night a murder happened, fights ensued and the fork ran away with the spoon. Each of the characters had a part to play in the calamitous evening that culminated in much laughter and applause for all of those who took part in the soiree.
The Lynn Canal Community Players hosted the event.
