Halloween weekend promises to be full of scary movies, a murder mystery and stomachs full of sweets.
The Southeast Alaska State Fair will host trick or treating for all ages Saturday, Oct. 29 1-3 p.m. Admission will be free. Those interested in renting and decorating a booth can call the Fair at 766-2476.
Haines High School cheerleading team is hosting a doubleheader movie night Saturday, Oct. 29. It’s a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown and Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Wererabbit will air at 5:30 p.m., followed by Arachnophobia at 7:30 p.m. The movies will be shown for free at the elementary school gym. Concessions will be for sale.

The annual Witches’ Paddle Board will take place Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. Gather at the Small Boat Harbor parking lot, near the boat launch. Costumes are optional.
There will be a “trunk or treat” event at the Haines Latter Day Saints branch Monday, Oct 31 at 5:30 p.m. 417 Mud Bay Road (near the top of Cemetery Hill), complete with candy, cider and hot chocolate.
Lynn Canal Community Players is hosting a Clue muder mystery party Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Chilkat Center for the Arts. Admission will cost $10.
The Pioneer Bar is holding a Halloween-themed costume contest and open mic night Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 p.m. There will be prizes for scariest, funniest and best costumes.
