First, second, third time’s the charm! After rescheduling twice we finally held the Friends of Haines Police first annual golf tournament! I believe a good time was had by all! Thanks to all you hardy golfers (including policemen), a little rain will never stop us! My new motto after trying to figure out the weather report. We had 28 golfers/7 teams! A special thanks to Tomi Scovill, my right hand gal and Tammy and Niall Hackett for helping things go smoothly! Thank you to our prize donors: Tomi/Jim Schnabel, Jenny Lyn Smith, Howsers IGA, Caroline’s Closet, Haines Packing Co., Oleruds Inc., FNBA, Charlie/Toni DeWitt, F/V Tiffany Lee, The Pro Shop. Unfortunately we didn’t have a “hole in one” winner. Our volunteers: Lexie DeWitt, Bonnie/Karl Johnson, Tomi Scovill, Charlie DeWitt and Shannon McPhetres. Apologies if I left someone out. Thanks to all who brought goodies to eat. A super big “ Thanks” to Clayton Jones for the Valley of the Eagles golf course remaining open. It is such a special place for Haines. Last but not least, I have to say I missed your presence, Stan and Kathy. Our first ever golf tournament without you two physically there (sad face). Wishing you both a happy, healthy and relaxing future.
