Responding to Tom Morphet (a fave of mine in this town) and his July 28 letter to the editor. Maybe you’re correct, Tom. Maybe covid case numbers would help someone decide about their social behavior. Maybe those numbers would help keep residents healthy. Maybe not.
Personally, I foster common sense, keeping one’s immune system strong and prayer as one is so inclined. From my own experience, the counts increase fear and loathing (not healthy), and masks inhibit a body’s natural exchange of air (not healthy).
And boosters? If you think the vaccines are safe and effective and that there’s more of that safety and efficacy in a booster, what can I say? I’m dumbfounded. I’d suggest getting yourselves some news from outside the mainstream to find out how that’s working out. Or even just take a look at the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
A dinner party? Ask your people if they’d say yes before shopping and cooking.
Regarding covid as sneaky, maybe there’s some consciousness there, but really, I think it’s simply call and response; a body calls, a local virus responds.
I believe people in Haines can think and decide for themselves about covid right now.
Monkeypox is probably coming around the bend. Let’s save our “how do I live with xyz cases” questions for that next thing.
I expect the clinic, borough, and local media would get on that bandwagon; whereas seeing them do that again with covid feels to me both unhelpful and unhealthy.
