It was wonderful to be back in Tlingit Park for the annual Friends of the Library Fourth of July picnic. Thanks to your generosity the Friends raised nearly $2,000 for library programs and materials selling a hotdog, chip and cold drink lunch for $5—a good deal and a win-win for our library. We purchased all the supplies locally to support the community that supports the library in taxes and with donations to the Friends. We especially want to thank Kevin Shove and Howser’s IGA and Harry Rietze and Haines Packing for the ice. (It was hot!) In addition to the library staff, Friends board and library advisory board members, we are grateful to super volunteers Lisa Krebs, Nelle and Larry Jurgeleit, Suzanne and Norm Smith, the Nemec family, Teresa Hura and Chip Lende, and for the Chilkat Inlet Retreat’s grill.
