To Courtney Kelly and all the kids, I want to say thank you for coming out in support of the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning Roe v. Wade, while others were out protesting on Friday. You brought your value for life into the conversation in a respectful and kind way. That was a brave action, and I respect your bravery for jumping into the mix with a counter-message. In the story of “Horton Hears a Who,” an elephant fights for the life that exists on a small speck of dust. He is misunderstood, even attacked. He endures because he hears something. He hears that there is life on that speck, and he knows that a person is a person no matter how small.
