Mike Denker’s commentary last week “Priority lies with the people when it comes to Open Meetings Act questions” is excellent. He points out that the State Policy Regarding Meetings answers the questions and the policy points to openness and inclusivity, aka “the People” as I read it. He proceeds to talk about the First Amendment, free speech, and “viewpoint discrimination.” I guess I sort of knew this but not exactly; his commentary landed right on target for me, “viewpoint discrimination by government is a particularly dangerous form of speech discrimination.”
As is my usual: always finding connections from which to jump off and voicing critiques of certain subjects especially lately relating to SARS CoV-2 and COVID-19, I say there is no such thing as this mis- and dis- nonsense. I say as a nation our priority has not ever come close to lying with the people on this topic. Rather the priority has lain with our combination of government and big business corporations. I say any notion expressed in words, whether thought, spoken or written, that doesn’t align perfectly with “them” is labeled mis- or disinformation by “them.” The United States is an experiment in democracy; surely, we have a “Policy” like the Alaska Open Meetings Act does that makes it clear that the priority lies with us and not with “their” (Government PLUS Corporations) medical viewpoint discrimination.
Make Fauci/Pfizer your god, sure/fine/no prob; I’ll take nature’s remedies any day, snake oil to you, no doubt. Speak up against viewpoint censorship.
