Kevin Thompson won reelection and Luck Dunbar was seated for the first time on the Chilkoot Indian Association’s tribal council.
Three people were on the ballot. Thompson placed first with 48 votes. Dunbar received 35 votes, and Jessie Morgan got 25. A few write-in candidates received votes, too.
Council member Robert Martin, whose term is ending, didn’t run for reelection.
Voter turnout was down from last fall’s historic election in which five of seven council seats were up after an earlier vote was postponed due to the pandemic.
Tribal administrator Harriet Brouillette said the election went without any hitches.
The other five council members are president James Hart, vice president Bill Thomas, Andrea Ferrin, Jan Hill and Georgiana Hotch.
