I would like to appreciate Kyle Clayton and Doug Olerud for their dedication to public service in our community. Although these two do not always see eye to eye on issues, they both consistently stand for integrity, compassion and dedication to service. Neither shy from vulnerability or apologies in the public eye. Both are willing and competently able to stand up to awkward or conflict-laden situations and somehow express genuine validation of differing views. I am grateful for Kyle and Doug for their willingness to bear public scrutiny and continue to work for the betterment of our community relationships and their ability to encourage people to value and be curious about our differences rather than rely on the ease of judgment and divisive tactics. And to all of the other unnamed and equally dedicated public servants, business people and citizens in Haines, thank you for all you do to make Haines a better place to live.
