A Feb. 3 article titled “Report: Shellfish toxin levels low last year” reported that a Haines fisherman died in 2010 of a suspected case of paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP) after eating crab at a wedding. In fact, despite several media reports that PSP was suspected in his death, an autopsy showed that the fisherman, John Michael “Mike” Saunders, died of heart failure not caused by PSP.

A Feb. 3 article titled “Lady Bears team wins home basketball invitational tourney” reported that Haines School freshman Emma Dohrn missed what would have been a game-winning shot in the dying seconds of the Lady Bears’ game against Sitka. In fact, time ran out before Dohrn could get the shot off.
