A birthday celebration, complete with cupcakes and Lego creations, Alaska Weather Calendars and a turtle named Rosie will all be featured during Dec. 3’s First Friday events.
Olen Stickler, whose birthday is Dec. 3, will have artwork including Legos, 3D paper art, paintings and drawings at Corlix.
“We’re going to have a display for everybody to check out,” Corlix owner Cassie Miller said. “We’ll also have some cupcakes and things to celebrate his birthday with him.”
The Haines Animal Rescue Clinic is hoping people will stop by to check out the latest pets that are up for adoption by showing off their “Animals: Art in Motion.”
“We were just trying to be cute with the title that the animals were the art in motion. We don’t have any art besides the artistic characteristics of turtles and cats and rabbits,” HARK director Stacey Clark said.
Rosie, a turtle, Ken and Barbie, two rabbits, and cats Sox and Alex are looking for homes, Clark said.
Jim Green will be featured at Alaska Rods where his Lynn Canal Shipwrecks maps will be available. He’ll also have his 2022 Alaska Weather Calendar which includes monthly weather data, records and photography from across the state.
Karen Bryant will have about 20 acrylic landscape paintings on display and for sale at Haines Brewing Company. Her pieces range from 5 by 7 inches to 8 by 10 inches and feature landscapes from Alaska and the Yukon. All sales proceeds will go toward Willow Bryant’s medical expenses. Bryant is undergoing treatment for an eating disorder.
Tami Hackett will have photography displayed at the Port Chilkoot Distillery. The Pioneer Bar will host an open jam with Jo Jo Goerner at 9 p.m. Three Northmen will feature artisan meads, ciders and hard sodas.
