Alaska Administrative Code 5AAC 92.410 and 92.420 permits the taking of wildlife in defense of life or property.

In Haines we have Chief Scott, Chief of the Haines Police Department, who has twice shot and wounded bears. Once in defense of his garbage and again now in defense of an apple tree. His failure to deal with bears properly clearly shows he thinks his life is garbage and his property is an apple tree.

Debra Schnabel was fired by the Haines Borough Assembly for…? Chief Scott openly and willfully violated Alaska Administrative codes regarding wildlife. Chief Scott has repeatedly failed to correctly enforce Alaska State Law and Codes. Chief Scott has made it painfully clear that he does not know our laws and codes, nor does he intend to comply with or enforce them.

My question for the Haines Borough Assembly is: Why is Chief Scott employed by my local government?
