The two legislators who represent Haines will be in town for a community meeting 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the American Legion Hall.
Sen. Jesse Kiehl and Rep. Sara Hannan will be in Haines midway through their five-day, five-community tour of the district, which also will include town hall meetings in Klukwan, Skagway, Gustavus and Juneau.
“Folks in Haines are never shy about sharing,” Kiehl said.
The lawmakers want to hear what people think of the state’s fiscal situation and efforts to craft a sustainable, long-term fiscal plan, Kiehl said.
He also said he expects that possible federal funding for infrastructure projects and the continuing recovery from last December’s devastating storm and landslide will be on Friday’s conversation agenda.
Kiehl and Hannan will provide an update on legislative budget action and the upcoming special session, scheduled to start Aug. 2 in Juneau.
