Our friend of over 40 years died recently at Chilkat Lake. Doing all that needed to be done from over 2,000 miles away would have been a wholly impossible task without so many friends who stepped up to help.

I offer our heartfelt thank-you to Bob Bell, who made countless trips to shuttle Harold and I in and out of the lake, and back and forth to town; to Bob, again, and Terry Bell and Fred Lofaso, who made sure he had food, water and firewood; to Becky and Tony Malone for going out to the lake on her days off to check on him; to Debra Schnabel for making transport and cremation arrangements, and even for trying to fulfill his wish to be buried at his Chilkat Lake home of over 30 years; to Dennis Bedford for flying his ashes from Juneau to the lake; and to Mary Cummins for planning and hosting both her beloved Jon’s and Harold’s celebration of life and potluck at her own Chilkat Lake home. To those special friends, we owe more than we can ever hope to repay. May your lives be as blessed as ours.
