The writing is on the wall as clearly as the slick PR piece in last week’s CV News by the anonymous Japanese corporation DOWA and the Canadian Corporation Constantine. There will be no accountably for the Palmer Project beyond a Corporate Logo and unnamed sources behind anonymous corporate phone numbers manned by who knows who now or ever.
The transparency and community engagement promised years ago by then corporate liaison Liz Cornejo to present the community with full buildout plans and a community public meeting within months of the spring 2018 making of this promise, has been and remains non-existent.
It takes a completely dysfunctional community and local government to allow this corporate takeover of the precious resources of the Chilkat Valley with no accountability and no transparency. We do not have to accept this, however. The future of the Chilkat Valley belongs to the residents who live here. Not to outside corporations or their political lackeys.
