Beginning in April, Alaska Seaplanes will provide daily flights from Juneau to Petersburg.

The airline will offer nine-passenger flights and cargo flights taking approximately 55 minutes with scheduled daily departures from Juneau at 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. with return departures from Petersburg at 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

A one-way ticket between Juneau and Petersburg starts at $199.

Seaplanes general manager Carl Ramseth said the company has been interested in offering the Petersburg flight for several years.

“The idea to expand our route map into Petersburg from Juneau has been on our radar for a number of years,” Ramseth said. “Petersburg has lacked (consistent) round-trip, same-day connectivity to Juneau for about twenty-five years. We’ve learned it takes a multiple year commitment to start a new route.”

Seaplanes offered flights to Sitka in 2014, Klawock in 2017 and Whitehorse in 2018.

Alaska Seaplanes became Haines’ single air carrier in March 2017 after Wings of Alaska shut its doors. Harris Air offered flights in December of that year but closed its doors in August 2019.
