There are definitely people in our town in need of financial help during these times.  There are also those of us fortunate enough to have very little impact on our financial situation by COVID or disasters, but we are still getting the check from the government. I would like to encourage those of you who are so blessed, as we are, to donate part or all of your “stimulus” check to a local program where we hope to stimulate our local food security into the future. The Victory Garden at the Mosquito Lake Community Center was an amazing success on many levels last year. We hope to keep it going and make it stronger. We will need funds in addition to what we have raised, and been granted by CVCF, to pay for a coordinator to keep volunteers organized and active.  We hope to have classes and demonstrations, we hope to provide food storage, we hope to provide garden space and  to mentor young and old who want to grow food.

Takshanuk Watershed has agreed to be our non-profit to accept funds, so if  you feel led to donate to this local stimulus effort, please send it to Takshanuk Watershed Council HC 60 Box 2008 or go to takshanuk.org/donate and  click on the Victory Garden tab.

Thanks so much for being part of our special  community.
